PROMIS Anxiety¶
PROMIS. "Anxiety" item bank and scoring manual.
Key findings used in wiki¶
- PROMIS treats anxiety as a distinct construct from depression, with its own item bank and standardized T-score interpretation.
- Higher T-scores mean more anxiety. Items focus on fear, worry, hyperarousal, and somatic anxiety symptoms over the past seven days.
- Anxiety is measured separately from low mood because the two constructs, though frequently co-occurring, respond to different kinds of support and do not reduce to a single emotional-strain number.
- In GiveCare's methodology pages, this supports the argument that caregiver emotional strain is not one-dimensional, and that a general burden screen can miss anxiety that is elevated without accompanying low mood.
