Louisiana Monitored In-Home Caregiving (Structured Family Caregiving)¶
Louisiana's Monitored In-Home Caregiving (MIHC) program pays family caregivers a daily stipend through the Community Choices Waiver (CCW) Medicaid waiver to provide in-home care to seniors and adults who are physically disabled as an alternative to nursing facility placement. The caregiver must live with the care recipient. Spouses may serve as caregivers. Known as Monitored In-Home Caregiving rather than Structured Family Caregiving.

The caregiver receives 50-65% of the Medicaid daily rate. The caregiver must live with the care recipient. Spouses may serve as caregivers. Known as Monitored In-Home Caregiving (MIHC). Available through the Community Choices Waiver (CCW). Income eligibility is determined through Medicaid, not this program directly.
Eligibility¶
- Asset limit of $2,000
- U.S. citizenship or qualified immigrant status required
- Care recipient must have a qualifying disability
- Care recipient age: at least 21
- Must live with care recipient
