Connecticut Adult Family Living (Structured Family Caregiving)¶
Connecticut's Adult Family Living program is a Connecticut Home Care Program for Elders (CHCPE) service that can support older adults aged 65+ at home instead of in a nursing home or other long-term care facility. CHCPE includes Medicaid waiver-funded, Medicaid 1915(i), and state-funded financial pathways. The caregiver must live with the care recipient. A provider agency coordinates services, provides caregiver training, and conducts regular oversight visits.
Adult Family Living is listed by Connecticut DSS as a CHCPE service for eligible adults aged 65+ who need home care based on financial eligibility and functional dependence. CHCPE financial eligibility varies by category: 2026 access-agency guidance lists Category 3 Medicaid waiver income at $2,982/month with a $1,600 individual asset limit, Category 5 Medicaid 1915(i) income at $1,958/month with a $1,600 individual asset limit, and state-funded categories with no income limit and a $48,798 individual asset limit. Exact AFL daily rate, pass-through details, and caregiver relationship exclusions still need primary-source confirmation.
Some details for this program are still being verified. Check the official source for the most current information.
