Refundable federal tax credit for low-to-moderate income working individuals and families. The credit amount depends on earned income, filing status, and number of qualifying children. Designed to supplement wages and reduce poverty for working families.
Refundable tax credit for working individuals and families. Tax year 2025 maximum credits: $649 (no children), $4,328 (1 child), $7,152 (2 children), $8,046 (3+ children). AGI limits for single/head of household: $19,104 (no children) to $61,555 (3+ children). For married filing jointly: $26,214 (no children) to $68,675 (3+ children). Investment income must be $11,950 or less. Tax year 2026: max credit increases to $8,231 for 3+ children. Must have earned income and valid SSN.
