Colorado Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI)

Colorado's FAMLI program provides paid family and medical leave to nearly all Colorado workers. Employees can take up to 12 weeks of paid leave for family or medical reasons (up to 16 weeks with pregnancy or childbirth complications). Jointly funded by employer and employee payroll premiums.

Up to 12 weeks of paid family or medical leave per year, with an additional 4 weeks available for pregnancy or childbirth complications (16 weeks total). Uses a progressive wage replacement formula: 90% of wages up to 50% of the state average weekly wage (SAWW), plus 50% of wages above that threshold, with a maximum weekly benefit of $1,381.45 for 2025-2026 (based on SAWW of $1,534.94). Includes job protection after 180 days of employment, including return to the same or an equivalent position. For 2026, premiums are 0.88% of wages up to the Social Security wage cap, typically split 0.44% employer and 0.44% employee.
