VA Housebound Pension Allowance

Monthly pension supplement for wartime veterans who are permanently housebound due to disability. Distinct from Aid and Attendance — Housebound applies when a veteran is substantially confined to the immediate premises due to a permanent disability, or has a 100% disability rating plus an additional separate disability rated 60% or more. Cannot be received simultaneously with Aid and Attendance.

Dec 1, 2025 – Nov 30, 2026 rates (+2.8% COLA): Single veteran Housebound MAPR $21,313/yr (~$1,776/mo); veteran with one dependent $26,705/yr (~$2,225/mo). Eligibility requires meeting one of two criteria: (1) substantially confined to immediate premises due to a permanent disability (38 CFR 3.352), or (2) has a schedular 100% combined disability rating AND a separate service-connected disability rated 60% or more. Net worth limit $163,699 (Dec 2025–Nov 2026). CANNOT be received simultaneously with Aid and Attendance — only the higher applicable supplement applies. Cash can be used to pay a family caregiver for personal assistance. Apply via VA Form 21-2680 or VA.gov.
