North Carolina Structured Family Caregiving (Coordinated Caregiving)¶
North Carolina's Structured Family Caregiving program (known locally as Coordinated Caregiving) pays family caregivers a daily stipend through Medicaid waivers to provide in-home care as an alternative to nursing facility placement. Caregivers live with the care recipient and provide ongoing support throughout the day.
Pays family caregivers a tax-free daily stipend for providing in-home care to Medicaid-eligible individuals who require a nursing facility level of care. Reported stipend is approximately $392 per week ($1,680 per month), though exact rates may vary. The caregiver must live with the care recipient and provide support throughout the day. An approved Structured Family Caregiving provider coordinates services, provides caregiver training, and conducts regular oversight visits. Spouses may serve as caregivers.

Eligibility¶
- Care recipient must be at least 21 years old
- U.S. citizenship or qualified immigrant status required
- Care recipient must have a qualifying disability or need for assistance
- Caregiver must live with the care recipient
- Must be a resident of NC
- Must be Medicaid-eligible
- Must require a nursing facility level of care
