Self-Directed Medicaid Home Care (Employer Authority)¶

Allows Medicaid participants to act as employers, selecting, training, and hiring family members as paid caregivers.

Ability to hire family members as paid caregivers with hourly wages; flexibility in budget allocation and worker schedules.

Eligibility¶

Must be Medicaid-eligible
Must meet functional eligibility for an HCBS waiver or state plan offering employer authority
Must be willing to act as employer of record for hired caregivers
