South Carolina GetCareSC, Area Agencies on Aging, and 211 Resource Navigation¶
South Carolina caregivers can use GetCareSC, South Carolina Department on Aging, regional Area Agencies on Aging, and SC 211 to find aging, disability, caregiver, respite, assisted living, transportation, financial assistance, meals, adult day care, daily chore help, housing, food, utilities, health care, legal, and community resource referrals.
The South Carolina Department on Aging says it provides support and resources for programs that help aging citizens and adults with disabilities live independently, and routes people seeking assisted living, transportation, financial assistance, or other services to GetCareSC. GetCareSC is for seniors, caregivers, and adults with disabilities; users can search by keyword and ZIP code for local service providers and common searches include assisted living, transportation, adult day care, meals, medical supplies, and help with daily chores. SCDOA's Programs and Initiatives page says most South Carolina programs vary by county and directs seniors and caregivers to use GetCareSC to find local programs and services near them. SCDOA says it works with 10 regional Area Agencies on Aging to administer the Family Caregiver Support Program and directs caregivers needing support to GetCareSC. SC 211 is a free, confidential, local, statewide, 24/7/365 information and referral service that connects South Carolinians to health and human services by phone, text, and online search, including food, housing, utilities, health care, jobs, childcare, mental health, disaster relief, and vetted community-based referrals.
