New York Paid Family Leave (PFL)

New York's Paid Family Leave program provides eligible employees with job-protected, paid time off to bond with a new child, care for a family member with a serious health condition, or assist with family obligations when a family member is deployed abroad on active military service.

Up to 12 weeks of paid, job-protected family leave per year. Pays 67% of the employee's average weekly wage, up to 67% of the New York State Average Weekly Wage (NYSAWW). In 2026, the maximum weekly benefit is $1,228.53 (based on NYSAWW of $1,833.63). Unlike California PFL, New York PFL includes job protection — employers must hold the employee's job or a comparable position. Employees fund the benefit through payroll deductions.
