Optional Medicaid waiver that funds a broad menu of home-care services for people with IDD, including payments to family caregivers.

Payments to family caregivers (LRRs and others) in 47 states; Respite (daily, weekly, institutional) in 44 states; Caregiver training (37 states) and counseling/support groups (26 states).

Eligibility

  • Must be Medicaid-eligible
  • Care recipient must have an intellectual or developmental disability (IDD) diagnosis
  • Must require a home and community-based level of care
  • Availability varies by state (47 states offer family caregiver payments)
